At AHR 2026, Danfoss addressed this industry-wide demand by launching the iC7-HVACRdriveportfolio, an integrated platform that brings together variable-speed operation, harmonic mitigation, and bypass configurations under a single unified hardware framework designed specifically for modern building management systems.

By embedding advanced control logic directly into the hardware, the new series drastically reduces the historical reliance on external programmable logic controllers or dedicated auxiliary HVAC units. Integrated sensing capabilities and specialized application software allow each unit to handle localized diagnostics, closed-loop monitoring, and motor protection autonomously. Additionally, Danfoss integrated a hardware-based cryptographic chip to establish robust device-level cybersecurity in networked environments, while an innovative back-channel cooling architecture routes up to ninety percent of thermal energy completely away from the control cabinet, lowering mechanical room cooling overhead and maximizing thermal efficiency.

Power quality and grid compliance represent another major leap forward for this platform, particularly for sensitive facilities like hospitals and data centers where electrical distortion can cause costly disruptions. The ultra-low-harmonic variants feature an active rectifier front end that suppresses current distortion at the source, keeping total harmonic distortion below three percent to meet strict IEEE 519 standards entirely without bulky external filters or multi-pulse transformers. Coupled with edge-based condition monitoring for predictive maintenance and a coordinated bypass option that maintains network visibility during direct-line operation, the platform delivers a streamlined, highly reliable solution for advanced HVACR motor control.
