Configured for 64-channel DC24 V discrete acquisition on the CJ I/O Bus, the Omron CJ1W-ID261 (CJ1W-ID261 Digital Input Module) provides direct physical/electrical execution via two 40-pin FCN interfaces.

Model Identification

  • CJ1W-ID261: Base catalog number, 64-point DC24 V input, Fujitsu/OTAX-compatible FCN connector, basic I/O class.
  • CJ1W: CJ-series 35 mm wide I/O family prefix.
  • ID: Digital input function code.
  • 261: 64-point high-density variant with 16-point/common grouping (4 commons).

CJ Bus I/O Density and Connector Scaling

The CJ1W-ID261 executes I/O density scaling on the CJ I/O Bus by mapping 64 inputs into 4 allocated words (16 points/common). Backplane communication follows the CJ dedicated I/O bus velocity license, not Profinet or EtherNet/IP; word refresh is driven by CPU cyclic scan. Firmware flash compatibility is fixed to CJ1M/CJ2M/CJ2H CPU units running unit information table V3.x or later. Connector pinout conforms to Fujitsu FCN-40R-TV and OTAX equivalents; no MIL or removable screw terminal block is fitted. Simultaneous ON loading is restricted to 50 % per common (8 of 16 points) at DC24 V without derating external supply current.

Ordering Information

  • 1 x CJ1W-ID261 module (factory sealed, label barcode intact)
  • 0 x FCN connector plugs (must order separately, e.g. GPN-CJ25 or equivalent 40-pin Fujitsu/OTAX hood)
  • 0 x termination cables (Omron GPP-CJ25L pre-wired cable optional)
  • 0 x mounting hardware (DIN clip integrated into module body)
  • 1 x printed warning slip (omron static handling, not full manual)

Site Wiring and Mounting Notes

  • Supply the CJ rack 5 VDC backplane before inserting the module; do not hot-swap while CPU in RUN unless rack supports live insertion.
  • Wire COM0-COM3 pairs (A9+A18, B9+B18 on each FCN) to identical polarity; mixing source/sink on one common forces undefined ON state.
  • For PNP sensors, tie COM to 24 VDC positive; for NPN, tie COM to 0 VDC. Sensor leakage must stay below 1 mA in OFF band.
  • Keep FCN cable bundles away from 200 VAC feeder trays by minimum 100 mm or use grounded separator plate.
  • Drain shield of multi-core sensor cable to cabinet ground, not to COM terminal.
  • Set input filter (0/1/2/4/8/16/32 ms) in CX-Programmer unit setup; default 8 ms masks contact bounce but rejects sub-ms pulses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CJ1W-ID261 support hot-swapping on a live CJ2M rack?

No. The module is not rated for live insertion. Remove 5 VDC backplane power or place CPU to STOP before extracting or seating the unit.

Can the same common terminal mix PNP and NPN sensors?

No. Each 16-point common (COM0 to COM3) must be uniformly wired either to 24 VDC (PNP) or 0 VDC (NPN). Mixed polarity on one common causes false ON.

What is the actual backplane load drawn from the CPU?

Maximum 90 mA from the 5 VDC CJ I/O Bus rail. It draws 0 A from 24 VDC field supply; field power is fully external per common.

Why are there 8 COM terminals for 64 inputs?

64 inputs are grouped 16 per common across 4 groups. Each group has two physical COM pins (A9/A18 etc.) that must be paralleled to the same potential, not used as separate commons.

Is the FCN plug shipped with the module?

No. Per Omron lineup note, "connector model does not include connector". Order Fujitsu FCN-40R-TV hood plus crimp contacts or Omron GPN-CJ25 separately.

What happens if input filter is set to 0 ms?

0 ms disables digital debounce; ON/OFF reflect raw bus sampling limited by hardware propagation (~sub-ms to 1 ms). Use only with electronic sensors, never mechanical contacts.

How many CJ1W-ID261 can one CJ2M-CPU mount?

Limited by basic I/O unit count (max 10 expansion units on CJ1M, 40 on CJ2H via expansion racks) and 5 VDC backplane budget. 90 mA each: 10 pcs = 900 mA, within typical CPU 5 VDC capacity.

Does it require firmware download for CJ2H compatibility?

No firmware flash on the module itself. Compatibility is controlled by CPU unit information table; older CPUs may need CX-Programmer V9+ to allocate 4 input words correctly.
