The Allen Bradley 1492-IFM40F-FS-2 is a high-density digital Interface Module (IFM) designed to optimize the connection between field devices and programmable logic controllers. As part of the 1492 wiring system, this 40-contact module is specifically engineered for use with Allen-Bradley 1746 (SLC 500) series I/O, though it is compatible with other high-density digital systems. It acts as a pre-wired terminal block assembly, replacing traditional point-to-point wiring with a streamlined cable-to-header architecture.

By utilizing this module, industrial engineers can significantly reduce cabinet clutter and installation labor. The 1492-IFM40F-FS-2 incorporates integrated fuse protection for each circuit, providing a critical safety layer that prevents field-side electrical faults from damaging expensive PLC input or output cards.
