The Bachmann AIO288 is a versatile, high-density analog interface module designed for the M1 controller architecture. This unit streamlines automation hardware by consolidating eight analog inputs and eight analog outputs into a single modular footprint. By supporting multiple signal modes—including voltage, current, and resistance—the AIO288 provides a comprehensive solution for connecting sophisticated sensors and control actuators to the central processing unit.

This module is particularly effective in environments requiring high signal integrity. It allows for both single-ended and differential wiring configurations for its inputs, a feature that significantly suppresses electromagnetic interference (EMI) and common-mode noise. This dual-mode capability ensures that data acquisition remains precise even in proximity to high-power industrial drives or frequency converters.

Advanced Sensing and Integrated Diagnostics

Engineered for specialized process tasks, the AIO288 provides native support for temperature and position measurement without the need for external signal conditioners. The board features four dedicated channels for Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD), compatible with Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors using high-accuracy 2-wire or 4-wire bridge circuits. Additionally, it contains an internal power source designed to drive up to four potentiometric transducers for displacement or angle sensing.

To maintain maximum system reliability, the AIO288 incorporates proactive diagnostic monitoring. The module continuously supervises field-side connections, providing immediate alerts for wire breaks on voltage inputs or short-circuit/overload conditions on the potentiometer power supplies. These hardware-level safety features prevent faulty sensor data from reaching the control logic, thereby protecting equipment and reducing troubleshooting time during maintenance cycles.
