The Bently Nevada 330701-00-40-10-02-05 serves as the primary 330701 Proximity Probes utilized to execute non-contacting displacement and vibration measurements across 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor platforms. The assembly detects dynamic and static distances between the probe tip and a conductive target via radio-frequency eddy-current generation, delivering proportional voltage scaling directly to core turbine supervisory instrumentation (TSI) channels.

Structural Suffix Matrix

  • 330701: 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Probe, 1/2-20 UNF thread, without armor

  • -00: Unthreaded length option (0.0 inches)

  • -40: Overall case length option (4.0 inches)

  • -10: Total length option (1.0 meter / 3.3 feet)

  • -02: Connector option (Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with connector protector)

  • -05: Agency approval option (Multiple CSA, ATEX, and IECEx hazardous area approvals)

Eddy-Current Probe Scaling & Gap Voltage Validation

Operation within high-frequency rotor dynamics fields mandates precise eddy-current probe scaling to guarantee uniform sensitivity across the extended 160 mil measuring envelope. Static configuration requires rigorous gap voltage validation matching a -10 VDC baseline, aligning the structural target precisely at the midpoint of the linear displacement zone. To achieve optimal cross-talk suppression and eliminate inductive field interference between adjacent tracking channels, parallel probe mountings must maintain a minimum centerline separation of 76 mm. Deviations from these spacing matrices introduce false phase and amplitude modulations, disrupting transient vibration capture during critical machinery startups.

Included Kit Components

  • 1 x Bently Nevada 330701-00-40-10-02-05 Coaxial Proximity Probe

  • 1 x Prefitted Coaxial Connector Protector Sleeve

  • 2 x 1/2-20 UNF Locking Hex Nuts

  • 1 x Material Calibration Certification Sheet

Mechanical Mounting & Installation Instructions

Physical installation requires strict adherence to alignment tolerances to prevent mechanical clip or probe tip destruction during operation.

  1. Inspect the target track area on the rotor to confirm surface roughness does not exceed 1.0 micro-meter (40 micro-inches) rms to minimize electrical runout.

  2. Insert and rotate the probe casing through the bracket assembly until physical contact with the target is achieved, then back out the thread to establish a rough operational distance.

  3. Apply external power to the matched Proximitor Sensor and monitor the DC output. Adjust the insertion depth until the gap voltage reaches -10.0 VDC.

  4. Torque the 1/2-20 UNF locking nuts to a final maximum rating of 11.3 N-m (100 in-lb). Do not over-torque as it will cause sensor case binding.

  5. Connect the 1.0 meter integral coaxial line to the extension cable using the ClickLoc connection. Ensure the connector protector is deployed over the coupling to isolate the junction from moisture and structural ground paths.

Logistics Frame and Packaging

Delivery time: 2-7 days when payment finish, routed via global express carriers including DHL, FEDEX, and UPS. All units are packaged in certified anti-static industrial packaging containing specific high-density foam cells to prevent physical distortion and secure calibration parameters during transit.

Structural Performance Verification FAQ

Q: Can this 11 mm probe be matched directly with a standard 3300 XL 8 mm Proximitor Sensor?

A: No. The 330701 probe requires a specific 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor. The internal tuning circuitry, eddy-current probe scaling, and nominal scale factor (100 mV/mil for 11 mm versus 200 mV/mil for 8 mm) are incompatible and will cause immediate loop measurement faults.

Q: Is hot-swapping permissible for the coaxial terminal connector?

A: Yes. The probe is a passive component containing only inductive coils. Breaking or establishing the coaxial signal path while the monitoring framework is energized will not induce damage to the hardware, though it will trip a NOT OK status latch on the designated monitor rack.

Q: What grounding procedure must be executed for the sensor system shield?

A: The system shield must be tied to a single clean instrument ground point, which is executed exclusively at the monitor rack or terminal block end of the Proximitor loop. The probe body and extension cable connector must remain insulated from machine ground structures to avert dual-point ground loops.
