Disrupting this conventional wiring paradigm, Banner Engineering has introduced the DXMR50 series of compact field-mounted logic blocks. Engineered to execute essential functions like timing, counting, signal scaling, and threshold evaluation directly at the equipment level, these compact devices bring true edge processing to standalone machinery without the overhead of a full-scale control system.

The core utility of the DXMR50 family stems from its balance of robust physical engineering and flexible on-device configurability. Built into sealed IP67 and IP68-rated housings, the units bypass the need for protective control cabinets, DIN rails, or specialized panel wiring, allowing technicians to mount them directly onto operational machinery near the point of measurement. Available across nine distinct model configurations, the platform supports diverse signal integration including discrete PNP, analog 4–20 mA, 0–10 V inputs, and Modbus communication options. Diagnostic status LEDs positioned on either side of the chassis ensure that engineers can immediately verify power, input, and output states without opening up enclosures or interrupting plant operations.

Implementing this hardware into existing plant architectures streamlines data handling significantly, particularly in applications like precision tank level monitoring or equipment health tracking. For instance, raw analog signals originating from a field-mounted sensor can route directly into the logic block for real-time scaling and local visualization via Modbus, while simultaneously transmitting clean analog values downstream to a primary PLC.
