Product Overview

The SST-PFB-CLX is a high-speed communication module that enables Allen-Bradley ControlLogix® processors to interface directly with PROFIBUS DP networks. Functioning as a high-performance scanner, this module bridges the gap between Rockwell Automation’s premier controller platform and the PROFIBUS fieldbus standard. It allows for the seamless integration of diverse field devices—including motor starters, variable frequency drives, and remote I/O—into a centralized Logix-based control architecture.

By utilizing this scanner, engineers can leverage the diagnostic and control capabilities of PROFIBUS DP without the need for complex custom messaging logic. The SST-PFB-CLX occupies a single slot in any 1756 ControlLogix chassis and supports both Master and Slave modes, providing the flexibility to either control a network of DP slaves or act as a high-speed data provider to another DP master.

Network Architecture and Integration

The SST-PFB-CLX is engineered to handle large-scale distributed I/O configurations while maintaining deterministic performance. It streamlines the data mapping process by converting PROFIBUS cyclical data directly into Logix5000™ controller tags.
