The IC693ALG223 is a high-density analog current input module developed by General Electric for the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) family. This module is engineered to interface with up to 16 single-ended industrial transducers, converting standard current signals into precise 12-bit digital data for the CPU. Designed for versatility in complex process control, it supports multiple operational modes including 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, and a specialized 4 to 20 mA Enhanced mode for advanced fault detection. Its compact footprint and high channel count make it an ideal choice for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Speedtronic turbine control architectures where cabinet space and signal accuracy are paramount.

  • Resolution and Accuracy: Features 12-bit analog-to-digital conversion, providing a resolution of 5 μA (in 0-20 mA mode) and 4 μA (in 4-20 mA mode) with a base accuracy of 0.25% at 25°C.

  • Rapid Update Rate: Capable of scanning all 16 channels every 13 milliseconds, ensuring real-time responsiveness for dynamic industrial processes.

  • Enhanced Diagnostic Range: In "Enhanced" mode, the module scales signals from -8000 to +32000 counts, allowing the controller to identify "under-range" conditions indicative of wire breaks or sensor failure.

  • Isolation and Protection: Provides 1500V galvanic isolation between the field circuitry and the PLC backplane to protect sensitive logic components from industrial transients.
