Bently Nevada Machinery Monitoring and TSI Interface

The 2300/20 uses independent 24-bit ADCs on the input channels and synchronized sampling for its two vibration inputs. Each channel can process acceleration, velocity, or proximity measurements. The dedicated speed input supports Keyphasor transducers with multiple events per revolution and event ratios up to 20 kHz.

For proximity measurements, the monitor provides a dedicated transducer interface with a -22.8 to -25.2 VDC supply and a maximum rated current of 15 mA. The monitor also provides configurable upper and lower OK limits for transducer condition validation.

The two internally powered 4-20 mA outputs can represent configured measurement variables and provide 0 to 12 VDC voltage compliance across the load, with a maximum specified load resistance of 600 ohms. These outputs must not be connected to an externally powered current loop.

Two programmable dry-contact relays can be configured for alarm functions. Three buffered BNC outputs provide two vibration signals and one speed signal for connection to external measurement equipment while providing short-circuit and EMI protection.

The Ethernet interface supports 10Base-T and 100Base-TX operation. The 2300/20 supports Modbus over Ethernet and System 1 Evolution connectivity for current values, time-based data, waveforms, spectra, and alarm data capture.

Package Contents & Ordering Information

For the standalone 2300/20-AA ordering configuration, the manufacturer specifies:

  • 1x Bently Nevada 2300/20 Monitor
  • 1x DIN rail mounting assembly
  • 1x Monitor configuration software
  • 1x Technical manual

The -02 suffix corresponds to the multiple explosive-atmosphere certification option covering ATEX, IECEx, and CSA. The 2300/20 standalone monitor configuration does not include a vibration sensor, Keyphasor sensor, or 24 VDC power supply unless separately specified.

Field Installation Guidelines

  • Mount the monitor using the supplied DIN rail adapter or suitable panel-mount arrangement.
  • Supply the monitor from an 18 to 36 VDC source. Maximum specified power consumption is 7.5 W.
  • Maintain appropriate separation between vibration signal wiring, relay wiring, power wiring, and Ethernet cabling.
  • Use shielded instrumentation cabling for vibration and speed transducer circuits where required by the installation environment.
  • Connect COM and chassis ground according to the site grounding scheme. The monitor provides a jumper interface for connecting COM to chassis ground or an alternative terminal connection to earth ground.
  • For proximity probe installations, verify the transducer supply and configured OK limits before enabling protection functions.
  • Verify the speed channel threshold and expected RPM range before using time-synchronous measurements.
  • Do not connect the internally powered 4-20 mA outputs to an externally powered current loop.
  • Ethernet cabling uses RJ-45 connections and has a specified maximum cable length of 100 m.
  • For hazardous-area installations, apply the approval conditions and wiring requirements applicable to the certified installation classification.
