Configured for non-contacting transducer protection in machinery monitoring networks, the Bently Nevada 21000-16-10-00-098-04-02 (21000 Proximity Probe Housing Assemblies) provides direct physical/electrical execution. The enclosure houses and shields the proximity probe tip from external environmental contamination, mechanical high-velocity impacts, and process fluids while facilitating external adjustment of the physical gap relative to the monitored shaft surface.

Rotor Dynamics & Gap Voltage Validation Isolation

The housing assembly maintains physical positioning stability to isolate the internal transducer from high-frequency vibration fields that degrade eddy-current probe scaling. By securing the probe position through a rigid external sleeve, the hardware prevents physical drift, allowing field engineers to maintain stable gap voltage validation targeting -10 VDC baselines within the 3500 rack system. In installations monitoring complex rotor dynamics, the housing assembly forms a localized shield minimizing cross-talk suppression issues from nearby induction fields, containing the high-frequency RF paths within the designated monitoring axis.

Field Installation Guidelines

Physical installation requires strict mechanical compliance with NPT fitting specifications and alignment parameters.

  1. Mount the main housing body to the machine casing plate using the integrated process connection. Ensure a minimum of 5 full threads of NPT engagement to maintain environmental sealing.

  2. Insert the 8 mm or 11 mm proximity probe through the internal sleeve. Adjust the position relative to the shaft using a digital voltmeter until the Proximitor loop registers a stable -10.0 VDC gap voltage.

  3. Lock the probe depth position using the internal clamping mechanism to prevent slipping caused by continuous industrial vibration.

  4. Route the extension cable out through the 3/4-14 NPT conduit port. Apply standard thread sealant to the conduit threads to verify the exclusion of moisture, oil, and atmospheric steam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the probe inside this housing assembly be adjusted or replaced while the machine is running?

A: Yes. The 21000 series housing allows external adjustment. The design permits the insertion, removal, or gap calibration of the internal proximity probe without exposing the field technician to the internal rotating elements or high-pressure zones of the machine casing.

Q: Does this passive housing affect the electrical loop impedance or scale factor of the probe?

A: No. The housing acts strictly as a mechanical and environmental envelope. It does not interface with the electrical loop, meaning the 200 mV/mil or 100 mV/mil scale factor of the internal eddy-current probe remains unaltered.

Q: How is the assembly shielded against dual-point ground loops?

A: The housing relies on the internal probe sleeve and connector protector to isolate the coaxial cable junction from the physical metal body of the housing. The external enclosure must be grounded to the machine casing, while the probe shield remains isolated until it reaches the Proximitor Sensor terminal.
