The Allen-Bradley 1794-ADN serves as a high-performance communication gateway for the FLEX™ I/O system, enabling seamless integration into DeviceNet® industrial networks. This adapter module acts as the localized head-end for a distributed I/O rack, managing the data exchange between the central PLC processor and up to eight individual FLEX I/O expansion modules. By centralizing power distribution and network signals, the 1794-ADN reduces wiring complexity and allows for modular scalability in modern automation environments.


Designed for high availability, the 1794-ADN effectively bridges the gap between field-level sensors and supervisory control systems. Its compact, open-type design supports both standard DIN rail and panel mounting, making it an ideal choice for space-constrained control cabinets in manufacturing, material handling, and process industries.

  • Multi-Rate Communication: Automatically detects and supports standard DeviceNet transmission speeds of 125 Kbps, 250 Kbps, and 500 Kbps upon power-up.

  • Simplified Addressing: Features integrated manual thumbwheel switches for quick node address assignment (ranging from 00 to 63), eliminating the need for complex software configuration during initial hardware setup.

  • Flexible Power Management: Operates on a nominal 24V DC input and provides a dedicated 640 mA FlexBus output to power the internal logic of the attached I/O modules.

  • Diagnostic Transparency: Equipped with front-panel LED indicators that provide real-time status updates for "Module Status," "Network Status," and "I/O Status," facilitating rapid troubleshooting.
