The Allen-Bradley 1756-L83E is a high-performance Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) belonging to the ControlLogix® 5580 series. Engineered to meet the demands of modern smart manufacturing, this controller provides significantly enhanced processing power and speed compared to previous Logix generations. It features 10 MB of built-in user memory and an integrated high-speed Ethernet port capable of 1 Gbps communication, making it an ideal core for data-intensive applications and high-speed motion control.

As a modular processor, the 1756-L83E resides in a ControlLogix chassis and functions as the central intelligence for distributed I/O systems, including FLEX™ I/O and POINT I/O™. It is optimized for use with the Studio 5000 Logix Designer® environment, supporting up to 250 EtherNet/IP nodes. This controller is designed for high-availability environments, offering robust security features and the ability to execute complex control regimes across discrete, process, batch, and motion applications.

Advanced Communication and Integrated Architecture

The 1756-L83E is distinguished by its embedded Ethernet bridge, which supports 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds. This eliminates the need for a separate communication module in many linear or star network configurations, saving valuable chassis space. For advanced security and easy commissioning, the module supports the BOOTP-DHCP utility for dynamic or static IP management.

In addition to the primary Ethernet port, the controller features a high-speed USB 2.0 Type-B port for local programming, configuration, and firmware updates. To prevent data loss during power cycles, the unit comes equipped with a 2 GB 1784-SD2 industrial-grade Secure Digital (SD) card for non-volatile storage. The controller can manage a massive I/O count, supporting up to 128,000 digital and 4,000 analog points, ensuring scalability for the most expansive industrial plants.
