The Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2TR is a high-capacity, dual-port EtherNet/IP communication interface engineered for the ControlLogix® platform. This module functions as a high-speed bridge, facilitating the exchange of real-time I/O data, motion control commands, and safety messages between the controller and the industrial network. By supporting the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™), it enables seamless vertical integration from the plant floor to supervisory SCADA and HMI systems.

A defining feature of the 1756-EN2TR is its built-in switch technology, which supports Device Level Ring (DLR) topologies. This provides critical network redundancy; if a single point in the network ring fails, the module automatically reroutes data to maintain system uptime. It is also fully compatible with CIP Safety, allowing standard and safety-rated data to coexist on the same physical wire, which reduces wiring complexity and hardware costs in high-integrity automation environments.
